Thetford's Science Park

The Technopole de la région de Thetford is proud to announce the opening of a new science and technology park dedicated to the bioproducts development.  The technopole's mission is to promote industrial oleochemistry, an increasingly expanding economic sector in the Thetford region, by offering a stimulating environment for research and new innovative businesses.  Located in the heart of the beautiful region of Chaudières-Appalaches, the city of Thetford Mines is known for the wonderful quality of life that it offers to its residents.  Surrounded by lakes and mountains, the region has something for everyone and offers an abundance of activites to satisfy the needs of avid cyclists, golfers, hikers, skiers and outdoor lovers alike.

The technology park is situated in the heart of Quebec, only a two hour drive from Montreal, an hour from Quebec City and two hours from the U.S. border.

The Thetford science park offers the following advantages:   land spaces at very competitive prices; industrial road infrastructure offered at no charge; gouvernment tax credit  program for the set up of innovative technology approaches like oleochemistry; technical support in setting up your industry; available funding for financing; the possibility of benefiting from gouvernement financial aid for any project with positive environmental impacts.

Two centers for technology transfer are at the service of all new businesses that set-up in the science and technology park. 

OLEOTEK offers research, development services and technical assistance to businesses in organic chemistry and synthesis fields, as well as in oleochemistry.  It specializes in the development of applied bioproducts, such as lubricants, bioplastics and biodiesel products suited for cold climate use. OLEOTEK also offers services of scaling up of processes developped at lab-scale, toll processing and adaptation of existing technologies in its explosion proof pilot plant.

CTMP, the mineral and plastics technology center (Centre de technologie minérale et de plasturgie) offers professional expertise in two strategic sectors:  The plastics sector and the mineral sector.
