Science and Technology Park

The heart of Quebec's industrial oleochemistry. The enterprises' main activities are R&D, technological transfer, production,  consultation, scientific analysis and training services which create:

• A dynamic business community
• Scientific environment oriented toward entrepreneurship

The Thetford Mines Science and Technological Park joined with several partners to share relevant information and give the required support needed for companies interested in the technological transfer and its national or international development.   Their main goals are to:

• Find business partners to become co-entreprises or create an alliance
• Develop commercial relations
• Develop scientific and technological relationships
• Exchange commercial information
• Evaluation missions and prospections
• Information, liaison and support 
• Links on each respective Web site

Incubator

Located in  the Science Park,  the incubator will be known as a worldwide leader to accompany enterprises starting up in industrial oleochemistry.

An incubator is an organisation which first mission is to offer advise and a prosper environment for starting up within the standards, necessary requirements and enterprise evolution.

Pilot plant

An important trial center for oleochemical products and processes that allow to:

• Simulate the existing production processes
• Test process optimizations before transfering them in the production plant
• Verify the feasability of a process
  

The targeted markets are those of high added value products and specialized products.

The industries that develop or utilize industrial oleochemical by-products are mostly :

• Specialized chemical industries (additives for paint and varnish - surfactants, bio-solvents)
• Detergents and cleaning products industries (acids, alcohols, fatty esters, metallic soaps)
• Lubricant industries (fats, hydraulic fluids, biodegradable fluids)
• Cosmetic industries (vitamins and antioxidants - vegetable waxes, phospholipids)

The creation of an industrial oleochemical observatory

Mission :

Supply updated and relevant information on industrial oleochemistry to researchers and entrepreneurs and support the initiatives towards the economical and technological development in the region of Thetford Mines.

Goals :

• Provide a chart showing a general picture of industrial oleochemicals throughout the world.
• Build a collaborating network and information exchange center with oleochemistry researchers in the world.

Establish a cooperation with regional players such as oleaginous producers and the composite material industries by researching in oil extraction processes and developing new oleochemical processes.

Goals :

• Identify biopolymers for composite material industries and oleaginous plant crops able to be grown  in the Thetford area
• Develop oleochemical processes
• Experiment new composite materials
• Create an international technological display
